Pasture-based management system with 24/7 year-round turnout

Visit us and discover why horses and their owners feel so at home here!

10+ ha Pasture Land

Access to more than 10 hectares of pasture year-round allows horses to graze and move freely, supporting joint health, fitness, and digestion. The calming effects of herd life are a central component of the mental stability our horses experience here.

Spacious Horse Boxes

We provide a well-maintained stable where horses are regularly brought in for feeding and health checks. The stabling system varies depending on weather conditions: during heavy rain, cold temperatures, or high insect pressure, horses may stay longer in the stable to ensure protection and comfort. Each resident is provided its own spacious horse box.

Quality feed and forage

In addition to abundant pasture forage, our horses' main diet in the warmer seasons, we place great importance on distributing high-quality hay daily — both on pasture and in the stable. This helps maintain good body condition and overall health.

Riding facilities

Our facilities offer leisure riders plenty of space for relaxed time with their horses:

  • 20x40 arena
  • 30x60 arena
  • Round pen
  • 400m sand track

Our pasture management system is an essential element of our service: we do not allow private turnout or individually customized management plans.

At Sandhof, horses are not simply kept in boarding — they are part of our daily life.

Owners who live further away or cannot be present every day value the reliability and peace of mind of knowing their horses are in experienced hands.

At Sandhof, we care for horses in different life stages and with specific needs:

  • Senior horses enjoy a well-deserved, calm life in a peaceful environment, where regular gentle movement helps maintain joint mobility and supports their overall quality of life.
  • Young horses develop best in stable social groups, where they learn through contact with experienced horses, play together, and build physical and mental strength through natural movement.
  • Broodmares particularly benefit from regular movement in the herd, supporting a natural and healthy preparation for foaling, as well as a calm environment and experienced care that ensure safety during this sensitive stage.
  • Sport horses on brake benefit especially from a calm herd structure and a low-stress routine that allows them to recover after intense training or competition seasons, regain body weight, unwind mentally, and support tendon and joint recovery through constant natural movement, promoting long-term physical rebuilding.

Where are we?

We are located in the heart of the Passeier Valley, less than 20km from Meran. Despite its quiet location, our facility is easily accessible: just 100m from the main road. The Merano–Plan/San Leonardo bus (line 401) stops directly at our “Sandhof” stop!
